I'll be honest, when the song Top Gang by MCND came up in my Youtube recommendations, I had no idea who they were. It is often easy to tell with in the first few seconds of a song whether you're going to like it or not, and for the case of Top Gang, I could quickly tell that this was my type of song.
Top Gang is the pre-debut single of the 5 member boy group MCND, which stands for Music Creates New Dream. The song itself is made in the classic hip hop style, with a catchy laddish-shouting-style hook and fast paced raps. For a rookie group, I am impressed at the level of rap that they pulled off - each member's voice was very unique and they switched up the flow enough times to keep you interested.
If you're a fan of K-hip hop, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this song. The general feeling it evokes reminds me of the legendary bop Illionaire Gang by none other than Dok2, The Quiett and Beenzino. Whilst Top Gang is not nearly as iconic, it's still an enjoyable listen. In fact, when I was watching the music video I found myself wondering if this is a hip-hop crew or an idol group (though take one look at their hair, make up and razor-sharp dance skills and it'll become obvious).
All in all, I'm glad I stumbled upon this song. When MCND make their official debut, I know I'll check it out.
